Q: What do you get when you combine some ‘Crazy Old Geezers’ (COGS) who share a passion for vintage Rock ’n Roll, with some ‘Cool Other Guys & Gal’ (also COGS) who love the same music? A: You get a fun-loving band called The COGS, who rock Victoria with music of the 50’s, 60’s & more! ******* All it took was a one-nite reunion performance with The Vikings, his ‘old’ band from the 60’s, and Gord, our guitar playing vocalist, was hooked. He knew he wanted to play in a band again. So, in March, 2006, he placed an ad on a Musicians Wanted website. On the very same day, a certain bass player was reading the website, liked what he read, and responded right away. They met for coffee, decided they were a good fit, and started jamming right away. It wasn’t long before they realized that they could really sound good if they had a few well chosen musicians to round out the group. “But who” they asked “would want to play with a couple of ‘Crazy Old Geezers’ like us?” They placed ads on more websites, and in local music stores, and eventually their wishes were fulfilled by some ‘Cool Other Guys’ on keyboards, lead guitar, and drums. The rest, as they say, was history. The COGS started “rocking” for public and private events in 2007, and soon established a loyal following of fans ~ and a reputation as a good time dance and listening band, that coul make you want to “get up and boogie” or simply “sing along & reminisce”. As we all know, however, the passing of time is often accompanied by the winds of change, and The COGS, as we once knew them, are no longer. But fear not ~ all is not lost. The fall of 2009 brought a great opportunity for change, and a re-tooling of the music machine. Stay tuned, and check back often for news of exciting developments!
